By now you will have noticed that we launched a project to track the fastest growing cybersecurity companies with more than 50 employees and less than 500. (See Announcing the IT-Harvest Cyber 150.) That is great, but what about the smaller companies? Wouldn’t it be valuable to know about the startups that have shot up from 6 to 28 employees this year? Trust me, that is a huge jump.
Pulling these lists together is almost trivial for subscribers to dashboard.it-harvest.com. Just select Maximum HC = 49 and Minimum HC = 20. (You have to cut it off before you get down to the vendors that grew from 3 to 12 (400%)).
There are 856 results in that size range.
Then sort by YTD growth and export the top 50. Let’s look at the results.
In total these vendors have received $573 million in funding. Most of that, $309 million, was put in this year. Sure, funding translates to hiring, but only 36 of these are venture backed. The rest are bootstrapped (or have not announced their funding).
Distribution by country looks like this:
Let’s look at these growth curves. First CryptoNext, based in Germany and founded in 2018, is a Data Security cybersecurity vendor specializing in post-quantum cryptography solutions. The company's mission is to provide ultimate post-quantum remediation to protect against the threats posed by quantum computing to public-key cryptosystems. It is up against giants like SandboxAQ. This is a nice trajectory to be on.
Excalibur is a cloud SSH tunnel service. They are based in beautiful Poprad, Slovakia.
Here is their growth chart.
Kriptone is based in India. It provides real-time monitoring, keyword-indexed video session recording, and metadata collection, including application names, window titles, and URLs, which facilitates fast, full-text searches through the video records. Kriptone's solution aims to assist businesses in complying with government regulations.
Sweet Security, based in Israel and founded in 2023, is an Endpoint Security vendor specializing in Cloud Runtime Security. The company's flagship offering, the Cloud Runtime Security Suite, is designed to provide robust defenses across all stages of a cyber attack, focusing on the operational or "runtime" phase of cloud-hosted applications and services.
You get the idea. These are 50 of the healthiest cybersecurity vendors and all of them deserve exposure. You won’t see Gartner putting them in an MQ anytime soon. Unlike with the Cyber 150, I am not going to track and report on these with the same frequency. I suspect that the makeup of the fastest growing small vendors changes dramatically quarter to quarter.
Here is the link to the spreadsheet so you can research them yourself. Have fun learning about these companies on a trajectory to success.
Thanks for sharing this. It means a lot to us. Happy to see we stand at 5th, and only company from India.
You’ve made my weekend Richard! Proud to see Excalibur on this list!
