Michael Novinson at iSMG wrote about a possible acquisition of Protect AI by Palo Alto Networks for $700 million yesterday.
As part of the continuing interview series of Cyber 150 winners I had a chance to talk to Protect AI’s founder, Ian Swanson.
This follows the acquisition of Dazz last year by Wiz for $450 million. Dazz was another Cyber 150 awardee.
If you pre-order Security Yearbook 2025 you will have the printed list of the Cyber 150 by April 22. :-)
It appears that the Cyber 150 is indeed a great tool for surfacing the “most likely to succeed” in cybersecurity. Some other data to support that:
Six of the Cyber 150 have raised a whopping half billion ($513.7 million) in funding so far this year.
Chainguard is definitely one to watch. It has received a total of $606 million in funding, a sure sign that its investors expect a sale or an IPO in its future.
The majority of the Cyber 150 have continued to grow so far this year with 131 being in positive territory.
Yes there are 15 that have lost headcount so far this year. I will be digging into those and reaching out to their leadership to determine what is going on at each. Dashboard users can see my “Analyst notes” that I write as I talk to vendors.
