Somewhere between the March 30 launch of the Analyst Dashboard and today our MVP turned into a fully featured SaaS product. Once we had our first users, features began to be added every day and new datasets brought in. Behind the scenes the team has expanded to include a researcher and a BD person. We have conducted 80+ demos and always get a positive response. Data extracted from the Dashboard and posted as screenshots to Linkedin generates an overwhelming response. One post generated 250K views and hundreds of reactions.
So far we have discovered the following use cases for the complete data set on 2,874 vendors that we track:
-Investors in cybersecurity
-Analyst firms
-Corporate development teams at acquisitive vendors
-Competitive intelligence teams that have to track their competitors
-People who market to cybersecurity companies: events, PR, even job placement firms.
This is an update post for today, July 17. If you have a use case for our data feel free to reach out to schedule a demo!
Here are features added in the last week.
-Event participation. We are noting which vendors exhibit at major events. So if you want to see if a particular vendor exhibited at the RSA Conference in June it will appear in their profile page.
-Awards. Some awards are meaningful. Many are just pay-to-play and we do not include those. But I sit on the jury for the CISOs Choice Awards. All the other judges are CISOs who belong to CISOs Connect. Winners earn their recognition. We have added an awards search function. Also, if a vendor has earned an award it will appear on their profile page.
-Spotlight. I love this feature. It is a progression towards the Data-Driven Analyst Firm we are striving to create. It has short synopses of recently added features and a summary of the insights that can be derived from using it. These will grow to be included in Security Yearbook 2023.
Note the first item. A report on the first half of 2022.
The numbers are in! Of 2,868 cybersecurity vendors 163 received funding of $10.5 billion.
API Security is a new category we have pulled out from underneath Application Security. It is the fastest growing category with 29% growth in six months.
Security Operations grew 16.4% followed by IoT Security with 13%.
Like last year, GRC is receiving the highest number of new funding rounds, but they are smaller investments than the other categories.
More to come this week as we put the finishing touches on entering all the data from BlackHat 2022. You will be able to research all the exhibiting vendors to prepare for your trip to Vegas in August.
If you want a demo of all the recent updates feel free to reach out.
