I hate to think that the relative position of the Earth in its orbit around the Sun has any profound significance, but let’s face it, a new year is a great time to think ahead. There are some things you will be hearing about soon, like the complete revamping of IT-Harvest caused by the next evolution of the Analyst Dashboard. But, let’s talk about Security Yearbook 2024.
This year will mark the fifth edition of the only history and directory of the cybersecurity industry. The first, Security Yearbook 2020 was launched at RSAC 2020. I signed 400 copies in a sponsor’s booth and copies were passed out at several side-events. It was the best book launch I had ever had.
The first four editions of Security Yearbook were printed by Sheridan Books in Chelsea, Michigan, and shipped to our fulfillment warehouse in Warren, Michigan.
The best part of this journey was talking to and capturing the stories of so many industry pioneers, including Gil Shwed (Check Point), David Cowan (Verisign), Amit Yoran (Riptech), Marty Roesch (Sourcefire).
After writing a book about data erasure for Wiley during Covid lockdown, the acquisition editor reached out and expressed an interest in publishing Security Yearbook 2024. Knowing that Wiley would be much better at distribution than I will ever be I quickly agreed. Coincidently, they use the same printer I do. :-)
This means that I will stop selling all editions of Security Yearbook as of April this year.
I am slashing the prices today. So get them while supplies last!
If you want to display a complete collection on your book shelf now is your chance to get the older editions. If you know somebody studying cybersecurity or just entering the field now is your chance to get them the best introduction to the industry.

It's a brilliant book 👌.
