Tracking Israel’s impact on cybersecurity is not as easy as you may think. The path to success for most of them is to move to the US as early as possible. That makes it difficult to analyze Israel’s out-sized effect on the market.
Our latest subscriber to the IT-Harvest Dashboard posed this question last week. I won’t reveal her exact use case because it is her idea and gives her a competitive advantage to have a complete list of vendors from Israel. But here is our methodology.
When we add a vendor to the 4,365 we already track in the Dashboard we record its headquarters address. Sometimes that appears on its Linkedin page, sometimes on the Contact Us page of their website. Wiz made an early move to New York city for instance.
That means when a user of the Dashboard filters on Israel they only get the 280 companies that currently claim headquarters addresses in Israel.
But how to find the rest, those that have moved to the US, or in rare cases, the UK?
Three years ago we had our team in India look at the make up of each vendor’s work force. We collected the number of people residing in Israel, India, Australia, and a few other countries. I took that spreadsheet and sorted by percent Israeli. Then I scrolled down until the names I recognized as Israeli vendors dropped off. That was at 11%. That gave me 300+ new vendors to look at. Many of them were not Israeli but through acquisition had a team there. Many had been acquired since 2022. A few had gone out of business.
When I was done (thanks to those long cross-country flights!) I had my answer: 351 of 4,365 vendors came from Israel. That’s 8% of all vendors.
From that spreadsheet Maximillian created a new tag and filter for Israeli Origin.
Our users can check the box, hit search, and get the entire list.
The above is sorted by headcount. How about the top fastest growing in 2025 with more than 50 employees?
In total 264 of these companies have taken in $23.55 billion. You will recognize all the unicorns in this list:
If you want this list the process is simple. Get a seat to the Dashboard! Reach out and I will make that happen. :-)
