Announcing Socrates 5.0
Adding generative AI to the only platform for cybersecurity industry research
Late Friday night we added GPT based functionality to the Analyst Dashboard. Just in time for the RSA Conference here in San Francisco. Press release here.
GPT-4 is a powerful large language model. It understands questions. But it does not have or can not analyze all the information that went into constructing it.
Here is an example. Ask ChatGPT how many cybersecurity vendors are based in California.
Not a bad answer, although NortonLifeLock changed its name to Gem last summer, and FireEye is ancient history. Now ask Socrates the same thing:
Not only will Socrates return the number of vendors in our database that are headquartered in California, you can get a list of vendors filtered by other things like founding year, funding, size, or growth.
The primary advantage to having an interactive platform like this is speed. Especially when we expose it via a mobile app. The Dashboard was created during Covid, when most people were always at their computer. Now that we are traveling and going to conferences there will be more demand for fast answers. So Socrates is accessible from mobile devices. I will be using it this week as I wander the show floor. When I am talking to somebody from a vendor I am not familiar with I can just pull up a description and data on my phone.
Next step: voice interaction. The Siri of cybersecurity. :-)
We continue to add vendors to our database every day. Here are the latest additions that bring the count up to 3,377.
